The Minneapolis Youth Congress is welcoming applications for its 2026-27 cohort. Members work alongside city leaders on youth safety, wellbeing, and opportunity, developing policy recommendations that reach the City Council. No prior experience is required, and a stipend is provided. Applications close in September.

The Safety Perceptions Survey has now gathered more than 1,200 responses from young people across Minneapolis. Early results are helping map the places and times where youth feel most and least safe, and will inform the coordinated safety plan this fall. The survey remains open.

Summer placements are underway as young people begin paid work experiences with employers and community partners coordinated through the Youth Coordinating Board network. Placements pair skill-building with mentorship, and partner sites span nonprofits, city departments, and local businesses.
